Patrons of Music

The Patrons of Music contributors are appreciators of great music who have organized for the long-term preservation, promotion, and presentation of quality performances in central Nebraska.

Several years ago, the Grand Island Concert Association began to discuss the need for a new cooperative force dedicated to the financial support of music in the classical tradition. Because Concert Association membership sales underwrite only a portion of our total staging and administrative costs, the Patrons of Music program was born.

In one sense, technology alone is capable of safeguarding musical treasures for even the most remote corners of the world. Wonderful advancements like the CD, DAT, or MP3 players can surely fill our living rooms with concert hall sound. Yet our living rooms are not concert halls. The most sophisticated computer imaginable cannot duplicate the unique chemistry between artist and audience during a live performance.

That's why Patrons stand ready to underwrite ongoing classical concerts in central Nebraska, and that's why they ask for your help. Please consider this a personal invitation to become a fellow Patron of Music for the Grand Island Concert Association. Help ensure that present and future generations of Nebraskans will never be impoverished in terms of concert experience. Help us plan and work so that music may flourish. Your participation as a Patron will guarantee that the Grand Island Concert Association will continue in its seventh decade and beyond. The strong cornerstone of Patron fund raising will safeguard central Nebraska's ability to continue hosting eminent concert artists. Patrons enjoy intrinsic benefits for their generosity and commitment. They are invited to meet-the-artist receptions whenever scheduling permits.

The Patron of Music program is also proud to offer two post-secondary education scholarships each academic year to high school seniors from communities with concert members residing in their school district. The two awards are conferred to students who plan to major in music performance or music education, and are chosen each year by the scholarship committee based on academic and music scholarship, a personal recording, and a reference from their musical instructor.

Patrons are formally recognized and listed in every concert program. The greatest Patron benefit can't be listed like a prize in a sweepstakes - it's the deep satisfaction one feels in upholding this wonderful thing called music.

You can become a Patron of Music by choosing one of five giving categories: Friend - $30-$99; Benefactor - $100-$249; Master Benefactor - $250-499; Grand Benefactor - $500; Community Sponsor - $1,000 or MORE. Pick a level that best accommodates both your commitment to music and your personal budget. The Grand Island Concert Association, Inc. is a nonprofit organization registered with the State of Nebraska. All contributions are fully tax deductible under the 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
